Margaret Ann Hoops

Margaret Ann Hoops, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 29, 2020 at the Bluffs in Lake City.  She was born January 8,1939 in Lake City.  After graduating from Elgin High School, she married Ronnie Hoops on November 23, 1957.  They made their first home and farmed in rural Lake City until 1991. They then moved to their home overlooking Lake Pepin while continuing to operate the farm.

Margie worked outside the home for IBM, Watersconley, the Lake City Nursing Home and cleaned many homes. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, playing cards and watching the Twins and Timberwolves. Margie was also a force on the Zumbro Falls softball team in the early 70s. Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren. Katie (Jared) O ‘Connor of Red Wing; Brandon Auge of Woodbury;  Amanda (Jeremy) Kohrs, Emily (Jason) Banks, of Lake City, Jacob (Chelsea) Hoops of Eden Prairie,  Nathan (Paige) Webster of Eden Prairie and Haley Webster (fiancé Logan Thomas) of Lake City.  Her retirement was spent cheering on her grandchildren at many gymnastics meets, baseball games, tennis matches, soccer games, choir/band concerts and dance line competitions. She loved catching up with them over a meal, appreciated the phone calls from college and the many shopping trips. Margie also enjoyed  her five great grandchildren: Harrison and Parker O’Connor, MacKenzie and Connor Kohrs and Jayden Banks.

Margie is survived by her loving husband, Ronnie. Two daughters; Charlene Auge of Red Wing and Nancy (Kevin) Webster of Lake City, and daughter in law, Carol Hoops of Lake City, three siblings Gene (Jan) Hein, Darlene Liesens and Patty (Jerome) Zink of North Dakota. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Hoops, her parents, and one brother.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Reverend Nathan Cordes will lead a private memorial service scheduled for Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Mahn Funeral Home in Lake City. Burial will be at a later date. A live stream of the service may be view on the Mahn Family Funeral Home Face Book Page Saturday at 11:00 am. Memorials preferred to the Ronald McDonald House or the Lake City School Foundation.
