Margaret Theresa Haaker

June 1, 1919 — March 26, 2014

Margaret T. Haaker, 94, of Red Wing, passed away on March 26, 2014, at St. Brigid's at Hi Park. She was born June 1, 1919, to Michael and Stella (Stanke) Wisnewski in Edgar Wisconsin. She was one of ten children and grew up on a small dairy farm. She attended her first year of school at a one room school house and then went to a Catholic grade school in Poniatowski. She went on to graduate from Wausau High School. She moved to Chicago to attend business school and worked for a little while until joining the civil service and taking a statistical job with the Pentagon during World War II. After the war she moved back to Chicago. She met the love of her life of almost 65 years, Lester Haaker, at the dances at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. They married on June 25, 1949 and settled in the Chicago area before moving to Red Wing in 1959. Over the years she enjoyed bowling, playing bridge, dancing, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. She was a member of the Church of St. Joseph where she did volunteer work over the years.
She is survived by her husband, Lester of Red Wing; son Kevin Haaker of Savage; former daughter-in-law, Rosemary Haaker of Burnsville; three grandchildren, Joseph Haaker of Red Wing, Emily Haaker of Burnsville, and Lucas Haaker of Hill AFB, UT; brother, Raymond Wisnewski of Wausau, WI; two sisters, Silvia Jarog of Poplar Grove, IL, Teresa Green of Eau Claire, WI; sister-in-law, Marian Wisnewski of Wausau, WI; brother-in-law, Edward Haaker of Schaumburg, IL and many nieces and nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Frank and Alex; four sisters, Eleanore Booker, Lucy Wisnewski, Josephine Wadzinski, Lillian Wojciechowski; a niece, Mary Kay Wisnewski; brothers-in-law, Bert Booker, Harry Wadzinski, Harvey Wojciechowski, Walt Jarog, Donald Green, Charlie and Harlin Haaker; sisters-in-law, Sally and Lucille Wisnewski, Winnie and Marilyn Haaker.
A Mass of Resurrection will be 11 a.m., Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the Church of St. Joseph with Father Thomas M. Kommers presiding. Burial will be at a later date at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
