Margaret Byers

On Friday, March 13, 2015 Margaret Byers passed away at the Hiawatha Care Center in Hiawatha, Iowa. She had moved to Iowa in July 2014 to be closer to family. She was born August 30, 1925, in Cherry Valley, IL to Charles and Myrtle Hyland. She graduated from Rockford High School in 1942, moved to Chicago, IL. where she met Jack Byers and they married on June 5, 1948 in Cherry Valley, IL. The two of them had eight children and moved several times through the years, but always felt Red Wing, MN to be the place they called home. Margaret worked several part-time jobs while raising their children, but the last job she had was at Welcome Services For You. She was able to meet and welcome new residences to the wonderful community of Red Wing.
She is survived by her four daughters, Anne (Mike) Kalscheuer, of Minnetonka, MN., Mary Byers, Cedar Rapids, IA., Kathy Johnson, Springfield, IL., Colleen Falk, Fallston, MD., three sons, Joe (Sue) Yosemite Falls, CA., Bruce Byers, Sun Valley, ID., Tim Byers, Cedar Rapids, IA., 16 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Warren (Jack) Byers, her son Daniel, son-in-laws, Gary Falk and Larry Johnson.
A Mass of Resurrection will be 10 a.m., Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Church of St. Joseph with Father Thomas M. Kommers presiding. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Memorials are preferred to the Church of St. Joseph which Margaret loved.
