Marcus James Lohman

Marcus James Lohman, 27, of Rockford, Illinois, formerly of Red Wing, died unexpectedly, Friday, Oct. 8, 2010 in Rockford. He was born May 10, 1983 in Red Wing to Terry and Cindy (Farrell) Lohman. He graduated from Red Wing High School in 2002. While in high school he had been involved as a manager for several of the sports teams, including boy's basketball and girl's softball and he had also worked at Koplin's Grocery Store. Following high school, he attended Bemidji State University and graduated in 2006 with a degree in Mass Communications. He lived in Red Wing for a short time and had been employed at Econo Foods. In 2008 he moved to Rockford, Illinois where he worked as a photojournalist for WTVO Channel 17 television network. Marcus was sports fanatic and was a huge fan of the Rockford Ice Hog's Semi-Pro Hockey Team, Florida Panthers NHL Team and of course, the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. He loved coming home to visit his family and especially loved seeing and spending time with his two nieces. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Red Wing.

He is survived by his parents, Terry and Cindy "Yo Baby" Lohman of Red Wing; brother, Kristopher (Jennifer) Lohman of Red Wing; two nieces, MacKenzie and Zoe Anna and many aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as his roommates and friends in Rockford, Justin, Jason, Izzy and Johnny B.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 15, 2010 at First Lutheran Church with Reverend Brian Scott officiating. Burial will be at Burnside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his cousins, Steve Gruber, Leah Lohmann Adams, Karla Vivant, Jeff Hanson, Tracy Jones, Scott Hanson and Mandy Lohmann. Honorary Pallbearer will be Michael Frederick and Nathan and Catlyn Farrell. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
