Marcella M. "Marcy" Haugen age 91 of Zumbrota died on Friday, January 07, 2011 at the Zumbrota Health Services surrounded by her family. A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota with Reverend Wayne Schoch officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery in Zumbrota. Visitation is scheduled for Monday from 3:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Marcella Mildred Mann was born on January 19, 1919 in Red Wing, MN to Alfred and Valborg (nee Hansen) Mann. She attended District #102 rural school in Goodhue. Marcella married Orrie Sommer on April 17, 1937 in Decorah, IA. They lived and farmed in Minneola Township. They had two children, Marilyn and Douglas. They divorced in October of 1951.
Marcella was united in marriage to Gregory Haugen on July 4, 1952. They lived at Fort Riley, KS, while Greg finished his military duty. After his honorable discharge, they purchased and operated the Mazeppa Bar & Grill. They later divorced and Marcy continued to run the bar by herself until she retired in 1978. Marcy then delivered the Rochester Post-Bulletin for twenty five years, until she reached 83 years of age and retired in 2003.
Marcy became friends to many people between tending bar and delivering the Rochester Post-Bulletin. She enjoyed life and loved to be around people. She loved sewing, gardening, playing bingo, cards with family and friends, spending holidays with her family and attending grandchildren and great-grandchildren birthday parties and school activities. Most of all she loved living in the country, where she spent her time tending to her garden and mowing her big yard. Marcy is survived by her six children, Marilyn Farrell of Eau Claire, WI, Douglas (Eileen) Sommer of Zumbrota, Orrin �'¢?oePuddin�'¢?? (Dorothy) Haugen of Zumbrota, Renee (Jeff) Wiskow of Goodhue, Tammy (Tom) Poncelet of Mazeppa and Kent (Monica) Haugen of Zumbrota; fourteen grandchildren and thirty four great-grandchildren. Marcy was preceded in death by her parents Valborg and Alfred Mann; son, Lance; granddaughter, Jamie O'Reilly; grandsons, Jeffrey Farrell and Bryce Haugen; one great-grandson, Matthew Heitmann, sisters, Florence Duden, Lillian Puppe, Shirley Duwe and brothers, Clarence, Harold and Willard Mann.
She touched the lives of so many, she will be greatly missed.
