Mahefatiana Andrianifahanana, 55, of Rochester, died Thursday February 27, 2020 at Season's Hospice.
Mahefatiana was born February 24, 1965 in Antananarivo, Madagascar to Jean Pascal Andrianifahanana and Marie Raheliarisoa. In 2004, he married Narindra Rakotoarivony in Madagascar and together they had three children; Itokiana, Liantsoa and Manoa Ny Avo.
Mahefatiana holds a Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, obtained at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2004. He did his Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. He was researcher at multiple universities across the United States and in Madagascar. Mahefa was currently an Assistant Professor of Medicine and has won multiple awards from multiple prestigious institutions including: "Norman and Bernice Harris Cancer Research Award" and Award for Excellence in Manuscript Writing"
Mahefatiana enjoyed being a member of Midwest Bible Baptist Church, playing guitar, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, at Midwest Bible Baptist Church (5930 Bandel Road NW, Rochester, MN) with Pastor Caleb Hanson officiating.
