Mabel Louise Enderson

June 25, 1914 — February 28, 2017

Mabel L. Enderson, age 102, of Rochester, died Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at Maple Manor Nursing Home where she had resided the past two and a half years.
Mabel Louise Hair was born June 25, 1914, on the family farm in Salem Township, Olmsted County, Minnesota, to Bert (L. B.) and Ofa (Wharton) Hair. At age three her family moved to Texas before moving back to Minnesota following a devastating flood. She began first grade at Byron Consolidated School and then moved to Eyota at age eight, where she graduated from Eyota Consolidated School in 1932. During high school, she worked for her room, board, and a small stipend and was always a dedicated employee.
On January 24, 1937, she married Roger E. Enderson in Rochester. Roger and Mabel spent a brief time in Florida and then returned to Minnesota where they enjoyed 28 years of marriage. Roger died on January 28, 1965, and Mabel went on to live a life filled with joy and love. She worked at Massey's Department Store for 37 years, retiring at age 69. Following her retirement, she did sewing and alterations out of her home. She was a lifelong Baptist, taught Sunday school for many years, was known to many as "Grammy," sang in the church choir as well as solo, played piano, and enjoyed sharing her love of the Lord with everyone. Mabel spent many hours reading her Bible, walking, sewing, embroidering, entertaining, traveling, and being a wonderful friend and grandma.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law Darlene Enderson of Rochester; grandchildren Cindy (Rich) Macrafic of Rochester; and Craig Enderson of Dayton, OH; great grandchildren Michelle (Kevin), Colin (Stephanie), Alex (Amado), Heather (Paul), and Brandon (Katie); and three great great grandchildren with another great great grandson expected in July. Many beloved friends, including her traveling companion Chris Nelson and special caregiver Barbara McGulpin, also survive. Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roger, son Bert, great granddaughter Melissa, and six sisters and one brother.
Warmest thanks to her caregivers at Maple Manor Nursing and Rehab and her church family in Rochester and all over the world. Your love and support over the years was immeasurable and so appreciated.
