Marcella "Sal" Baringer, 73, of Red Wing, died Monday, May 16, 2011 at her home. She was born June 10, 1937 in Winona, to Maurice and Ada (Struck) Glende. She graduated from high school in San Antonio, Texas in 1955, and returned to Minnesota to attend nurses training in Rochester. On Jan. 19, 1957, she married Duane "Dewey" Baringer at the First United Methodist Church and they made their home in Red Wing. She worked at Riedell Shoes and at the Red Wing Veterinary Clinic until she began her job at the training center for Xcel Energy as an in-processing coordinator, where she has worked the past 24 years. She belonged to the League of Women Voters, Friends of the RW Library, Charter Commission, Job's Daughters, 4H and the First United Methodist Church Women's Groups. She also enjoyed going to card clubs, traveling and going to the casino.
Sal is survived by her husband Dewey Baringer of Red Wing; 4 children, Bruce Baringer of Onalaska, Texas, Kimm (Tim) Pray of Apple Valley, Minn., Ketti (Greg) Green of Big Lake, Minn. and Brett Baringer of Prior Lake, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and a brother, John Glende of Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Brady Baringer.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011 at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Greg Strunk officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials preferred to First United Methodist Church Radio Fund, Friends of the RW Library, League of Women Voters or Fairview Red Wing Hospice.
