Lyle Henry Rutz

August 13, 1922 — May 12, 2012

Lyle Henry Rutz, age 89, of Lake City, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012 at his residence. He was born on August 13, 1922 in Lake City to Henry and Wilhelmina (Eggenberger) Rutz. He grew up in Lake City, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1941. He married Arlene Diepenbrock in July of 1949 in Lake City. After high school he began working at Federal Mogul, where he worked for 52 years until retiring. After he retired he began working part-time at PMI for the past 20 years. Lyle served in the United States Navy. Lyle was very talented working with his hands and being able to make anything with metal. He enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Lyle also enjoyed working and was proud to work everyday.
Lyle is survived by his wife, Arlene of Lake City; one son, Roger (Colleen) Rutz of Lake City; one daughter, Monica Rutz-Osskopp of Lake City; three grandchildren, Troy Rutz, Jeni (Don) Holcomb, Tom Osskopp; one sister, Jean (Howard) Wohlers of Lake City; and two great grandchildren.
Lyle is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Inez Partington; one brother, Leon Rutz; and an infant brother.
Memorial service will be at 11:00AM on Friday, May 18, 2012 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
