Lydia Anna Reese

February 13, 2014 — February 13, 2014

Lydia Anna Reese, died February 13, 2014
For nine months Lydia lived a vibrant life and developed a powerful relationship with her mother, father, and brothers. Sadly, when the time came for her to be born, the umbilical cord that had provided everything for her development burst a blood vessel and robbed her of her precious lifeblood before she was able to take her first breath. She was perfectly healthy, perfect in every way, yet at full term, denied the life so dearly anticipated by her family, by a tragic event that could not be foreseen or avoided.
Just as Lydia of Thyatira worshiped God before her formal conversion, it is our hope that Lydia Anna has been welcomed into the kingdom of heaven by our Heavenly Father with mercy, love, and forgiveness beyond our understanding.
Our daughter was given the name Lydia for our hopes for her. She was given the name Anna for our hopes for us. As Anna of Asher held the baby Jesus for only a brief moment, she prophesied about what would happen because of him. It is our hope that through our brief encounter with this child, we will be able to reach out and provide support for others who need it just as so many have done for us.
Lydia will be buried with her grandmother Eunice Reese who will, perhaps be the first one of us to meet her. She will be missed dearly by her mother Emily (Thomas) Reese, father Paul, and adoring brothers Clyde (3 years) and Oscar (20 months) of Goodhue. She is also survived by grandparents Mark and Margaret Thomas of Mankato and Richard Reese of Red Wing.
Arrangements with the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Burial and committal will take place in the spring at St. John's Cemetery, rural Goodhue. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
