Luvernon E. "Vern" Erlanson age 88 of Wanamingo died on Wednesday evening, October 10, 2007 at the Zumbrota Health Services. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, October 13, 2007 at 10:00 AM at Wanamingo Lutheran Church in Wanamingo with Reverend Barbara Kopperud officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Friday from 4:00 � 7:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home � Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Luvernon Eugene Erlanson was born on March 2, 1919 in Minneapolis, MN to Matt and Minnie (nee Larson) Erlanson. He grew up in the Cannon Falls and Prairie Farm, WI areas. Vern graduated from Clayton High School in Clayton, WI in 1937. He farmed with his parents until entering the U.S. Navy on December 13, 1944. He served during WW II and was honorably discharged on July 5, 1946. On March 27, 1946 he married Avis R. Kyllo in Wanamingo. After his discharge they made their home in several communities before settling in Bloomington. They moved to their cabin in northern Wisconsin after retirement and moved to Wanamingo in 1996. Vern worked as a mechanic/welder in the trucking industry. He was a member of Wanamingo Lutheran Church, the American Legion, Stary-Yerka VFW Post #5727, Wanamingo Historical Society and Wanamingo Senior Citizens. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Vern is survived by his wife Avis, one son, Lyle Erlanson of Cedar Falls, IA., four daughters, Joan (Bruce) Drager of Bloomington, Nancy (Don Gibe) Erlanson of Las Vegas, NV., Kay (Wally Sepura) Malaney of West Bloomfield, MI., and Cheryl (Brad) Nelson of St. Paul, eleven grandchildren, Scott (Denise) Erlanson, Stacy Bergmann, Dan and Dara Drager, Matt and Meredith Gibe, Jessica and Brynne Malaney, Amanda (Jeff) Debates, Kyle Krebs, Lauren Nelson and Michelle (Jim) Kelly, five great grandchildren, Jack and Olivia Erlanson, Blake Bergmann, Keegan Debates, and Josie Kelly, two brothers, Llewelyn (Mildred) Erlanson and Harvey (Bonnie) Erlanson and one sister, Melorie Eckstrom all of Cannon Falls, nieces, nephews and a host of sisters and brothers in law. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Mark and sister Emogene. The family suggests memorials to Wanamingo Lutheran Church.
