Luverne Curtis Peterman was born on July 24, 1936 near Red Wing in Featherstone Township, Goodhue County, MN to Richard and Henrietta (Fitschen) Peterman. After living the first few years of his life on the family farm, he and his family moved to Cannon Falls, MN for a couple of years prior to moving to Zumbrota in 1948 where he lived the remainder of his life.
Luverne attended country schools and graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1956. He worked for various construction companies until joining IBM in October of 1960. He spent the next thirty two years working for IBM and retired on April 30, 1992.
On June 3, 1961 he was married to Susan Doris Haugen at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Zumbrota. Married for fifty five years, they lived in Zumbrota, where they raised their family.
Luverne was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota where he enjoyed his duties as an usher and he loved to sing as he sat in the balcony of the church. He enjoyed collecting various antiques and items that piqued his interest such as Hamm's beer collectibles, old oil cans, unique yard sticks and so many other pieces. Luverne also greatly enjoyed spending time as his shop, tilling the ground, riding on his tractors and sharing memories with friends or even strangers as they would stop by his shop and visit. He loved to talk with most everyone and always had quick wit and enjoyed great laughs. He greatly enjoyed all sorts of other activities especially the card game of Euchre and deeply loved the Twins, Gophers and Vikings sports teams where you could hear him loudly cheering them on.
Luverne loved his family most of all and cherished spending time together especially with his grandchildren.
