Luverne Lidgerding, 96, of Red Wing, died Monday at Fairview Seminary Home. She was born on June 14, 1912, to Arthur and Etta (Edstrom) Lindquist. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1930. On July 1, 1938 she was married to Reuben Lidgerding in Nashua, Iowa. She was a homemaker and worked with her parents on their family farms in the Welch and Red Wing areas. A member of United Lutheran Church, she was active in the quilting group, Martha Circle, Friendship Club and as a Sunday school teacher. For 25 years she and her twin sister, Lorraine, were custodians at United Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, photography, and was a lover of animals especially cats.
Survivors include one son, Dr. Burton (Rebecca) Lidgerding of Shepherdstown, West Virginia and one cousin, Fred Hacker of McKenna, Washington. She was preceded in death by her husband Reuben on March 25, 1993 and her sister, Lorraine Lindquist on May 21, 2004.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at United Lutheran Church with Rev. Randall Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service.
