Luella L. Wallerich, age 80, of Rochester, died unexpectedly Sunday August 9, 2015, at Mayo Clinic Hospitals - St. Mary's Campus Emergency Department in Rochester.
Luella Louise Labisky was born April 10, 1935 on the family farm in Woodland Township, Wabasha County, to Charles and Meta (Timm) Labisky. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1953 and worked for the First National Bank in Plainview, MN. On July 21, 1956 she married Donald Wallerich at St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Plainview. The couple lived in Plainview until 1959 when they moved to Kasson, MN, in 1967 they moved to Rochester, where they have resided since. Luella was a longtime homemaker who enjoyed gardening, flowers, and embroidery. She also enjoyed selling at the farmer's market, and loved to babysit at churches and people's homes. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and the VFW Post #1215 Ladies Auxiliary of Rochester.
Survivors include her husband, Don; her daughter Diane (Robert) Lubahn of Mantorville, MN; two sons, Randy of Mesa, AZ; and Brian of Rochester, and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, one son, her sister, Harriet Benedett, and her brother, Charles Labisky preceded her in death.
The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester with the Rev. Nathaniel Schwartz officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Rochester Chapel and one hour before the service Thursday at the Church. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
