Lucy Ruth Halvorson, 91, of Red Wing, died Sunday, June 2, 2013, at the Seminary Home. She was born September 13, 1921, in Arkansaw, Wisconsin, to Frank and Florence (DeMarce) Reichhard. In 1939 she graduated from Red Wing Central High School. She was united in marriage Luther "Luke" Halvorson on August 8, 1941, and they made their home in Red Wing. Lucy worked part time at Munson Printing and for many years she was the "sample lady "at Super Value and later, County Market. Lucy was a member of the Church of St. Joseph as well as the Red Wing Country Club, the Elks Club and she had volunteered as an election judge. Lucy enjoyed golfing and was First Flight Champion in 1976 and throughout the years, she and Luke enjoyed taking golf trips.
Lucy is survived by her children, Michael (Sue) Halvorson of Red Wing, Daniel (Marlene) Halvorson of Red Wing, and Nancy (John) Bunten of Black Diamond Wash.; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one sister, Dorothy Steinmetz of Robbinsdale.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Luther Halvorson; daughter, Diane Illami; son, Alan Halvorson; sister, Teresa Monson and a great-granddaughter, Britta Halvorson.
Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 6, 2013, at the Church of St. Joseph with Father Thomas M. Kommers presiding. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Red Wing. Memorials preferred to Red Wing Hospice, Church of St. Joseph or Red Wing Golf Club.
