Lucille Ruth Thuman, 90 of Red Wing, died peacefully, at her home at Potter Ridge, on Thursday, September 30, 2010 with her family.
Lucille was born on August 21, 1920, in Pierce County Wisconsin, to Ralph and Ilda (McLaughlin) Bartlett. They moved to Red Wing in 1924. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1938. On November 12, 1938 she married Leonard Thuman.
She drove school bus 30 years for Vasa- Cannon Falls- Goodhue School systems. Lucille and Leonard owned and operated Thuman's Café in Goodhue for 20 years. She catered many weddings cooking for Lions Club and many social events for Feed & Seed Company. Lucille loved her family, knitting, Minnesota Twins, fishing, cooking and crocheting.
Survivors include three children, Brenda Jonas of Red Wing, Suzanne (Rick) Tietz, Kenyon, James (Debi) Thuman of Minneapolis.; ten grandchildren; two step grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; six step great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; many nieces, nephews and three double nieces and nephews, Beverly, Buddy and Wendy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; one son, Alan Thuman; one sister, Florence Dosdall; three brothers, Vernon, Glen and Roy Bartlett.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Burial will be in the Trimbelle Cemetery, Ellsworth. Pallbearers will be David Jonas, Jason Thuman, Jeremy "Putts" Thuman, Wade Whitcomb, Tim Whitcomb and Russ Duden. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
