Lucille Sell

Lucille Esther Emma Sell, 72, of Red Wing, died suddenly Sunday morning at Fairview Red Wing Medical Center. She was born April 3, 1937 in Eagan to Frederick and Anna (Englert) Boesel. She was baptized at Christ Lutheran Church and confirmed at Trinity Lone Oak Lutheran Church, both in Eagan. She was a 1954 graduate of Rosemount High School. After graduating, she worked for Montgomery Wards in St. Paul. She married Stanley Sell on April 5, 1957 at Trinity Lone Oak Church. The lived in Eagan on a farm, where she raised her three children and helped her husband with the farm work. In 1967 they moved to a farm in Red Wing, where they were until 1994 when they moved to their Spring Creek Avenue residence. After Stanley's death in 2001, she moved to Hickory Street. She had been an active member at Trinity Lone Oak Church in Eagan and at Concordia Lutheran Church in Red Wing. She enjoyed doing crafts, and especially liked making cards at the Red Wing Senior Center and she was also a volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood Drives.

She is survived by two daughters, Debbie (Roger) Eggenberger of Lake City and Mary Blank of Red Wing; a son, Jonathan (Julie) Sell of Red Wing; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five sisters, Laverne Detlefsen of Red Wing, Irlene (Joseph) Schuster of St. Paul, Ruth (Alvin) Volkmann of Medford, Irma (Douglas) Bjork of Eagan and Judith Fletcher of Ft. Collins, Col.; brother-in-law, Arthur Gustafson of Rosemount; sister-in-law, Ellen Thompson of West St. Paul and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brother-in-laws and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 30 at Concordia Lutheran Church with Reverend Michael Heggen officiating. Burial will be at Burnside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Eggenberger, Eric Eggenberger, Jeremy Sell, Simon Mueller, James Irvin and Todd Kuyath. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials preferred to the American Diabetes Association or Concordia Lutheran Church.
