Lucille "Lucy" Isensee, 86, of Red Wing, died Monday at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park due to complications of Alzheimer's disease. She was born on September 13, 1921, in Rochester, to William and Elizabeth (Schuman) Nelson. She graduated from Rochester High School in 1939. She then worked at Masseys, Holm and Olson Florist and Webber and Judd Drug Store. On November 10, 1951, she married James (Jim) Isensee in Rochester. They made their home in Albert Lea, Minnesota for a few months before moving to Red Wing in April of 1952. Lucy was then a homemaker and full time mother until 1971 when she began work as a library aide at Sunnyside Elementary School, retiring in 1986. She was then a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for 10 years. She was an active member of United Lutheran Church and also enjoyed boating, traveling, dancing, golf, walking and knitting.
Survivors include her husband, Jim; one son Mark (Nancy) Isensee of Kanarraville, Utah and two daughters, Ann (Marc) Vogel of Red Wing and Beth (Bob) Skalko of Virginia, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Scott and Craig Skalko and Tony and Kelly Vogel; one great grandson, David Lexvold and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, John Nelson.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at United Lutheran Church with Rev. Steve Timm officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Scott and Craig Skalko and Tony and Kelly Vogel. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association of United Lutheran Church.
