Lowell J. (Squee) Stary, 62, of Red Wing, died Friday, September 8, 2006 at St. Mary?s Hospital in Rochester. He was born on March 18, 1944, in Red Wing to Lowell E. and Louise (Ullevig) Stary. He attended Hancock Elementary School and graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1962. He served in the US Army Reserve in the Engineering Unit out of Ellsworth Wis. from 1965 to 1968 during the Vietnam War. On April 17, 1971 he was married to Margaret "Peg" Glynn in Red Wing. For many years he was a controller at Lawrence Nationalease in Red Wing. He served on various committees in the area and was currently treasurer of the board for PROACT. Survivors include his wife, Margaret "Peg"; two sons, Joel (Sonja Volker) Stary of Urbana, Ill. and Patrick (fianc‚e Bridget Beck) Stary of St. Paul; two sisters, Dr. Elsa (Mike) Tansey of Houston, Tex. and Sandra (Brad) English of Brainerd, Minn. along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Private family and extended family memorial service will be held Thursday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Burial will be at a later date in the Zumbrota Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be given to PROACT, Red Wing Area Food Shelf or Franconia Sculpture Park.
