Zumbrota?s oldest resident, Louise Anna Swenson, age 104, died Friday, July 28, 2006 at Zumbrota Nursing Home. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at Lands Lutheran Church with the Reverend Paul Reppe officiating. Casketbearers will be Henry Barsness, Brian Fluth, Wayne Fogelson, Duane Pagel, Erik Swenson and Dan Allen. Burial will follow at Lands Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Lands Lutheran Church. Louise Anna Fogelson was born near Skyberg, Dodge County, Minnesota on July 20, 1902 to Aaron and Emma (Starch) Fogelson. The family moved to a farm near Zumbrota when she was 16 years old. She graduated as Valedictorian of her class from the University of Minnesota Agricultural College in St. Paul in 1922. When Louise returned home, she worked at Banitt?s General Store until she married Ervie Swenson, on October 26, 1926. Following their marriage, the couple lived on a farm, just west of Zumbrota, until 1986 when they moved to their Zumbrota residence. She had been a resident of Zumbrota Nursing Home since 1996 and was a member of Lands Lutheran Church for over 80 years. Louise is survived by a daughter, Evelyn Skjelbostad, husband Arnold, of Georgetown, TX and a son, Robert, wife Martha, of St. Paul; four granddaughters; two grandsons and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervie, who died in 1988; a sister, Wilhelmina Swenson, of Whidbey Island, WA and a brother, George Fogelson, of Zumbrota, MN. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Tuesday.
