ROCHESTER - Louise Reichrath, age 94, of Rochester, died Monday (Apr. 29, 2013) at Samaritan Bethany Home on Eighth.
Born Dec. 8, 1918 in Landau, Germany to August and Philopena (Ehrenhardt) Reichrath, she immigrated to the United States at age six. She was raised in Terre Haute, Indiana where she graduated from high school and Indiana State University. Louise taught high school and worked for Commercial Solvents Inc. in Terre Haute. After reading Helen Clapesattle's book The Doctors Mayo she decided to move to Rochester in 1944. She joined the Mayo Clinic as a laboratory technician in the Steroid Chemistry Laboratory. She worked in the Dermatology Immunopathology Laboratory, and was a supervisor in the Virology Laboratory.
Louise is survived by nieces and nephews; she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
A memorial service will be held at Samaritan Bethany Towers, second floor, Salem Heights House at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2013. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Mahn Family Funeral Home - Rochester Chapel is in charge of arrangements. www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
