Louise Hoven

October 4, 1949 — November 6, 2024

Louise Hoven, age 75, of Zumbrota passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Louise was born in Zumbrota on October 4, 1949, to Lester and Evelyn (nee Rokke) Hoven. She was a graduate of Zumbrota High School and attended the University of Minnesota pursuing her love of acting. She moved to New York City, where she continued acting and won a Jefferson award for the play 'When You Comin Back Red Rider'. Louise then secured an agent and landed a contract in California with a major network. Throughout the late 1970's early 1980's she appeared in many TV sitcoms including 'Starsky and Hutch' and 'Police Woman'. Some may remember her from General Hospital, where she played Beverlee DeFreest, where she exercised under the guidance of workout guru Richard Simmons from 1979-1981. As often happens, her career slowed down and she changed paths to work as an executive secretary at Chiat Day advertising firm until her retirement at age 65.

Louise had a generous spirit and was loved by many - both humans and animals. She found homes for MANY strays over the years. She was always willing to help when asked, and most people who knew her will remember her great laugh and wonderful ability to tell a good story. She was a memorable and special soul.

She was preceded in death by her parents, plus twin siblings Bruce and Brent Hoven and many dogs including her unofficial favorite, Murphy, a spoiled Yorky.

She is survived by brothers: Les (Karen) Hoven of Oklahoma City, OK. Scott (Sara) Hoven and Keith (Wendy) Hoven, all of Zumbrota, MN. Sister: Martha Hoven of Rochester (Blaine Schacht) She is further survived by her nephews: Ian, Reed, Matthew, Jordan and her nieces: Thea and Brenna.

If you wish memorials in Louise's name should be directed to Paws and Claws Animal Shelter of Rochester or the Humane Society of your choice.

According to her wishes, there will be no services held. However, there will be a burial and gathering of family and friends at a later date. Louise would love it if you would make a toast to her memory!
