Lorraine Marjorie Krinke was born on August 4, 1921, at the family home near Mazeppa, Minnesota, to Alfred and Clara (Baker) Krinke. She graduated with a high school diploma from Mazeppa High School. Lorraine met Walter Scheffler at a dance, and they married on September 15, 1943, her parents' 23rd wedding anniversary, at St. Peter's Poplar Grove Lutheran Church in rural Pine Island. They made their home on a farm nearby where they raised three children. Lorraine was a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher at Poplar Grove and served as PTA president in Mazeppa.

Lorraine raised chickens, tended a bountiful garden and numerous flower beds, and assisted her husband with the many other chores. She had a never-ending supply of various vegetables, strawberries, raspberries, and rhubarb to cook with and flowers to decorate the table with. The roses used in the floral bouquets today were always a favorite of hers. When she wasn't busy with her chores and preparing eggs for market, Lorraine enjoyed baking and cooking fantastic meals for her family and friends including peach cream pie, rosettes, cream puffs, strawberry jam, schwartzua, and Swiss steak. She enjoyed visiting her next door neighbor, Margie Maas, calling, "Yoo hoo" to announce herself.

Upon retiring from farming in 1981, Walt and Lorraine moved to Mazeppa, where she became a very active member of the community participating in Senior Citizens Club, Women's Improvement Club, and Meals on Wheels. She served her Lord at St. John's Lutheran Church by serving as Ladies Aid president, assisting with catechism, and serving on Print Shop.

In addition to gardening, she enjoyed sewing, embroidery, and crocheting; and she shared her love of these pastimes with her family. Lorraine loved seeing her family and always welcomed nieces, nephews, and grandchildren as overnight guests. She felt very blessed to be able to have time with her seven great grandchildren.

Lorraine is survived by her husband of 67 years, Walter; a daughter Wendy (Clinton) Sparks, a son Wayne (Denise) Scheffler; five grandchildren Shannon (John) Davies, Shawn Sparks, Sheila (Andy) Thoma, Elizabeth Scheffler, and Emily Lorraine (Jeremy) Pierce; seven great-grandchildren Taylor Lorraine, Connor, Cameron, Garin, August, Clara, and Keegan; two brothers Terry (Maureen) Krinke and Tom (Patsy) Krinke.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Clara Krinke; two brothers Alfred Krinke, Jr. and Paul Krinke; a sister Elizabeth Jean Krinke; a daughter Jeanne Scheffler; and a great-granddaughter Kiley Sparks.

Blessed be her memory!!
