Funeral service for Lorraine J. Ness will be at 1:30PM on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 857 Rolling View Lane SE, Pine Island with Pastor Tim Graham officiating. Music will be provided by Dana Friese, pianist, and Tristan Kirchoff, soloist. Casketbearers will be Lorraine's grandsons: Aaron Ness, Andrew Diorio, Jacob Ness, Gunnar Ness, Tizôc Ness, Oscar Ness and Zobêc Ness. Burial will follow in the Pine Island Cemetery.
Lorraine J. Ness, age 73, of Pine Island died on Sunday, November 16, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born Lorraine Janice Wegman on July 30, 1935 in New Haven Township, Olmsted County, Minnesota to Edwin and Lillian (Tillotson) Wegman. She attended country school in Olmsted County and graduated from Pine Island High School in 1953. Lorriane worked for two years as a secretary at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester before going to IBM. She worked there five years and was married on March 29, 1958 to Miller Ness in Douglas. Following their marriage the couple lived in Rochester. They moved to Pine Island in 1971. She was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church and enjoyed playing cards and board games.
Lorraine is survived by her husband, Miller, of Pine Island; three sons: Ross (Carmen) Ness, Ronald (Lynn) Ness all of Pine Island, and Philip (Mary Ann) Ness of Hamilton, OH; three daughters: Polly Ness of Pine Island, Monica (John) Diorio of Papillion, NE, and Marie Ness of Rochester; seventeen grandchildren; five brothers: Stanley (Barbara) Wegman of Oronoco, Donald (Gloria) Wegman of Freemont, NE, Clarence (Marlys) Wegman of Inver Grove Heights, Jerry (Carol) Wegman of Tampa, FL, and Wendell Wegman of Minneapolis; two sisters: Marilyn McCray of Rochester and Barbara (Dennis) Lichtblau of Mazeppa. Her parents, Edwin and Lillian, one son Andrew, and two sisters: Ramona and Carolyn preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 5-7PM on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at Mahn Family Funeral Home � Mahler Chapel in Pine Island and one hour before services at the church on Thursday.
