Lorraine G. Baringer, 92, of Red Wing, passed away at Loving Residence Assisted Living on Friday, October 30, 2020. She was born November 24, 1927 in Red Wing to John and Blanche (Taylor) Staiger. She attended St. Joseph Parochial School, Red Wing Central High School, and Red Wing Technical College. On June 29, 1946, Lorraine was united in marriage to Wally Baringer in Red Wing. She and her husband operated a family trucking business and she later worked at West Publishing and Sturdiwheat in Red Wing. In the winters, she and Wally enjoyed snowmobiling and they were founding members of the Goose Lake Riders Snowmobile Club. During the summers, they enjoyed spending time on their houseboat. She was a member of the Church of St. Joseph where she had coordinated funeral lunches for many years. Lorraine was a loving and independent woman, who, feisty at times, was able to stay living in her home for 66 years, until the age of 92.
She is survived by three children, David (Carol) Baringer of Red Wing, Roger (Lois Murtley) Baringer of White Bear Lake, and Kay (Herb) Meltzer of Red Wing; four grandchildren Chad (Rose) Baringer, Elliot (Amy Wolfe) Baringer, Nikki (Eric) Garner and Shannon (Travis) Betcher and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband who passed away in 1984 and 3 siblings Richard, Harold and Lucille Staiger.
A private family burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Church of St. Joseph or donor’s choice. Arrangements by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
