Loretta Dora Todd, 93, of Red Wing, died Monday, March 10, 2014, at the Seminary Home. She was born March 21, 1920, in Hannover, Germany to Hermann and Dorothee (Stender) Sternberg. In 1928, she and her mother immigrated to the United States and they lived in Chicago, where she graduated from Lakeview High School in 1938. Following high school, she worked as a hairdresser and a music instructor. On September 12, 1943, she was united in marriage to Floyd Todd in Norfolk, Virginia and they lived in Virginia Beach. Later they moved to Brookfield, Illinois where they raised their family and 1981 they came to Red Wing. Floyd died in 1994. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Red Wing Area Seniors, PEO and the opera study group. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, music, being a homemaker, baking and being active at her church.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Beth of Dellwood, MN; son, Joseph Todd of Red Wing; 5 grandchildren, Leslie (Jeff) Peterson, Carolyn (Chad) Bray, Susan (Sam) Breckenridge, Amanda Beth and Matthew (Brita) Beth and 3 great-grandchildren, Annika and Tate Peterson and Clementine Beth.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
A visitation for Loretta will be from 9am-12pm on Saturday, March 15, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Burial will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are preferred to the Cannon Valley Trail or donor's choice.
