Loretta Louise Lexvold, 85, of Goodhue, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Red Wing on October 7, 1935 to Torlief and Ferolyn (Wobschall) Bakken. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Wing and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota. She graduated from Zumbrota High School on June 4, 1954. On June 26, 1955, Loretta was united in marriage to Lyle Lexvold at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota. Loretta was a very active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of rural Goodhue and served in the church’s Ladies’ Aide. She enjoyed spending her time sewing and quilting, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and will be remembered for the wonderful meals she made.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Lyle; children, Debra (Greg) Anderson, Julie (Curtis) Schrimpf, Bradley Lexvold, Brian (Rose) Lexvold, and Brent (Wendy) Lexvold; 14 grandchildren, Seth, Shane, Joel, Kimberly, Jeffrey, Tyler, Tony, Joshua, Reed, Nicole, Kyla, Cody, Chelsey, and Jenna; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Neal and Willis Bakken; and two sisters, Anita and Cynthia Bakken.
A private funeral service will be on Sunday, December 27, 2020, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Goodhue with Reverend Todd Engel officiating. A public walk-through visitation will be held from 12 until 1 p.m. on Sunday at the church prior to the service. Masks and social distancing are required.
