Loren Richard Black

Loren Richard Black, 97, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Deer Crest. He was born January, 23, 1922 in Welch, Minnesota to Richard and Erma (Bogue) Black. He attended Red Wing Central High School. On December 11, 1946 he married Lila Giere at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They farmed for many years in Welch Township. Lila died on January 29, 1998. Loren was a member of First United Methodist Church in Red Wing. He enjoyed traveling, going to auctions, playing cards, and being with family and friends.

He is survived by four children; Jerry (Laura) Black of Red Wing, Sandra (John) Humphrey of Oakdale, Minn., Sharleen (Barry) Gish of Fargo, North Dakota, and Jim (Yvonne) Black of Red Wing; 11 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Lila; brother, Roy; and sister, Hazel Bowen.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Friday, June 28, 2019 at First United Methodist Church in Red Wing with Reverend Clay Oglesbee officiating. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, Red Wing. Memorials are preferred to the church or donor's choice.
