Loraine Niebeling

July 29, 1929 — March 27, 2017

Loraine A. Niebeling, 87, of Red Wing, died Monday, March 27, 2017, at her home at Loving Residence. She was born July 29, 1929, in Red Wing, to Harold and Lily (Gerdes) Anderson. When she was a young girl, her father passed away suddenly and her mother later re-married William Fleming. Her family moved to a farm near Randolph and in 1947 she graduated from Randolph High School. She then moved back to Red Wing where she worked at Woolworths. On June 20, 1951, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Niebeling at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She later worked at Phoenix Loan and then Erickson's, where she became their first bookkeeper, retiring after 15 years. In her retirement, she worked part-time at Hallstrom's. A life-long member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, she participated in the altar guild, was a greeter with her husband, helped with bulletins and also made baby blankets. She was a member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries as well as the hospital auxiliary and she volunteered at the TB Sheldon as an usher. Loraine was a talented seamstress and she also enjoyed crocheting, knitting and quilting. Throughout the years she also enjoyed playing cards with her husband and other couples and her girlfriends. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and playing games with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Marilee (Eugene) Lampman and Julie (Terry) Marklevits both of Red Wing; 3 grandchildren, Shannon, Brock (Tara) and Philip (Sara) and 6 great-grandchildren, Evan, Matthew, Emma, Ayva, Autumn and Tate.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother, Lowell Anderson.
