Lois E. (Chilson) Sollie age 86 of Sauk Rapids, formerly of Zumbrota died on Monday, April 7, 2008 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids. Memorial services are scheduled for Friday, April 11, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the Wesleyan Church in Zumbrota with Pastor Janet Fischer officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, April 10, 2008 from 5:00 ? 7:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home ? Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Lois Eleanor Hermann was born on August 23, 1921 in Zumbro Falls, MN to Henry and Mina (nee Pencille) Hermann. Lois graduated from Rochester High School in 1939. On May 20, 1944 she married Lyle M. Chilson at South Troy. They farmed near Elgin and Lois was an active member of South Troy, teaching Sunday school for thirty plus years and was the church pianist for several years. Lyle died on May 21, 1980. On August 21, 1982 she married Rev. Ellis Sollie at South Troy. They lived in Zumbrota and Lois was an active member of the Wesleyan Church. Ellis died on July 6, 1987. She enjoyed gardening, playing Scrabble and was a quilter, having sewn many quilts and pillows for anniversaries and special occasions. She was also a member of the Lois Club and had wintered in Brooksville, FL for fifteen years. Lois is survived by her children, Carol Ann (David) Kappauf of Hinckley, MN, Dale (Cathryn) Chilson of Sauk Rapids, MN, Barbara (Daniel) Higginbotham of Marion, IN, Shirley (Bill Schulz) Chilson of Waukesha, WI, Janice (Kenneth) Poole of Decatur, AL, Glenn (Angela) Chilson of Grand Blanc, MI, one step-daughter, Ann (Jim) Wine of Sacramento, CA, fifteen grandchildren and one step granddaughter, fourteen great-grandchildren, two brothers, Harold (Charlotte) Hermann of Escondido, CA and George (LaVonne) Hermann of Rochester, sisters in law, Lola Hermann of Bartlesville, OK and Viola Johnson and Ardeth Chilson both of Coon Rapids, MN, sixteen nieces and nephews and cousins. Lois was preceded in death by her husbands, Lyle Chilson and Ellis Sollie and brother, William Hermann. Memorials are suggested to the Zumbrota Wesleyan Church or Christian Record Services, Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, P.O. Box 6097, Lincoln, NE 68506-0097.
