Lois M. Raasch age 79 of Zumbrota died on Sunday, January 03, 2010 at her home in Zumbrota. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, January 7, 2009 at 2:00 PM at United Redeemer Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Pastor's Tom Isaacson and Eric Westlake officiating. Burial will be in the Zumbrota Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
Lois Margaret Matthees was born on February 22, 1930 in Zumbrota Township, Goodhue County, MN to Frederick and Sabina (nee Stumpf) Matthees. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. She was baptized on March 16, 1930, confirmed on April 2, 1944 and married on March 12, 1948 to Melvin E. Raasch all at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota. They farmed in rural Zumbrota until 1959 when they moved into Zumbrota. Lois worked for several butcher shops and restaurants, and Zumco Inc. In 1972 Lois and Melvin started the Raasch Ranch Mobile Home Court and Lois helped run it. They sold the mobile home court in 1984. Lois enjoyed cooking and playing cards at the family gatherings, attending grandchildren's sporting events, and watching the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. Lois was a member of United Redeemer Lutheran Church. Lois is survived by three daughters, Pam (Kent) Grossbach of Hastings, Sandy (Wayne) Friedrich of Zumbrota and Randi (Aaron) Wichmann of Zumbrota; one son, Fred (Jan) Raasch of Wanamingo; ten grandchildren, Joe (Beth) Grossbach, Kris (John) See, Mike (Lana) Friedrich, Kelli (Terry) Buck, Kari (Justin) Lowrie, Brian Raasch, Jake (Lindsay) Raasch, Kevin (Tyra) Raasch, Stu Raasch and Hannah Raasch; ten great grandchildren; Nic Grossbach, Allie Brunette, Tanner Friedrich, AJ Friedrich, Ashlen Buck, Kaitlen Buck, Rianne Buck, Anna Lowrie, Keagan Lowrie, Melanie Raasch, and Kora Raasch; special friend, Al Amy of Zumbrota; one sister, Ann Quast and one brother, Roy (Alyce) Matthees, both of Zumbrota. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband Melvin; great granddaughter, Grace Lowrie; brother, Donald Matthees and sister, Berdell Hernlem. Casketbearers are her grandsons, Joe Grossbach, Mike Friedrich, Brian, Jake, Kevin and Stu Raasch. Honorary bearers are her granddaughters, Kris See, Kelli Buck, Kari Lowrie and Hannah Raasch.
