Lois Peper

Lois Margaret Peper, 81, of Red Wing, died Friday, April 25, 2008 at the Fairview Red Wing Medical Center. She was born August 29, 1926 in Lake City, to Henry and Florence (Hadler) Peters. She attended school in Lake City and graduated from the School of Agriculture in 1945. She married Milton F. Peper on September 7, 1947 at West Florence Lutheran Church. She lived in Red Wing and taught Kindergarten at St. John's Lutheran School and also worked at Josten's, from where she retired. For the past 16 years, she has worked part-time at the Mahn Family Funeral Home. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir and was a part of its ladies guild, the Martin Luther College Auxiliary and the Lutheran Women Mission Society. She had also volunteered at Wise Penny Thrift store and the Senior Center. She enjoyed her yard, playing cards and dancing.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Mary) Peper of Onalaska, Wisc. and Margaret "Meg" (Ed) Stumpf of Vasa; 4 grandchildren, Heather Penning, Shane Peper, and Andrew and Benjamin Stumpf; 2 step-grandchildren, Dustin and Stephanie Stumpf; one sister, Betty Bremer of Aurora, Colorado and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother, Marlyn Peters and an infant brother, Maurice Peters.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Monday, at St. John's Lutheran Church with Reverend Todd Engel officiating. Burial will be at Belvidere Union Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Shane Peper, Andrew and Benjamin Stumpf, Bruce Bremer, Bradley and Nathan Peters and Todd Penning. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Miller, Dustin Stumpf, Troy Peters and Jerry DeWald. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday, at Mahn Family Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at church. Memorials preferred to St. John's School Building Fund.
