Lois Marie Oien, 86, Red Wing, died Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Fairview Seminary Home. She was born April 12, 1923 in Rogers, North Dakota, the daughter of Rudy and Mattie (Meuhring) Leder. She graduated from Wadena High School in 1941 and she worked for a brief time at the Pentagon. She married Gordon Oien on April 11, 1948 and they lived in Kalispell, Montana, Albert Lea, Minnesota and then Warren, Minnesota where she worked at the Ken Nelson Agency until the early 1970's and then worked for Federal Land Bank, retiring from there. They moved to Red Wing in 2002. Gordon died January 7, 2009. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Warren and of Concordia Lutheran Church in Red Wing. In Warren, she was active in Hobby Homemakers, and Zion Lutheran Ladies Aide at her church. She enjoyed knitting, crafts, baking and gardening.
Survivors include Jill Oien of Red Wing and Jon (Stacey) Oien of Las Vegas, NV; two grandchildren, Jonathan (Tiffany) Oien and Jaime (John) Sutherland; two great-grandchildren, Jaxon Oien and Abigail Sutherland. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gordon.
Memorial Service will be 2 p. m. Friday, January 22, 2010 at Potter Ridge.
