Lois M. Lewis

August 23, 1921 — October 30, 2014

Lois Maujer Lewis, age 93, a resident of Red Wing, MN since 2008, formerly of Delaware, Ohio, peacefully passed away at Loving Residence on Thursday evening, October 30, 2014.
Lois was born on August 23, 1921 in Ben Avon, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Robert Irving and Edith Louis Maujer. Lois married Benjamin Morgan Lewis on September 10, 1942, shortly before Ben left with the 7th Army Air Force for duty in the Pacific Theater during WWII.
Lois graduated from Cincinnati's Western Hills High School in 1939 and from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1943. Lois and Ben lived in several university towns throughout Ben's career as a university librarian, including Ann Arbor, MI, Charleston, IL, St. Paul, MN, Granville, OH, and Delaware, OH, where Lois worked as assistant science librarian at Ohio Wesleyan University.
Lois was a kind, gentle, gracious, and loving person, with many friends. She was a devoted family person, never missing opportunities to show family and friends how much they meant to her. Lois and Ben attended many college sport events, even becoming the beloved grandparents for the women's basketball team at Ohio Wesleyan University. Lois could also play a spirited game of double solitaire. She loved her annual spring flower garden! Lois, Ben and family also spent many fun summer vacations in Blind River, Ontario, Canada at Battlepoint on Lake Duborne. They loved to travel to national parks in the west.
Lois is survived by her children, Gary (Leslie) Lewis of Wayland, MA, Robert (Marjorie) Lewis of Red Wing, and Melia Lewis of Santa Fe, NM; grandchildren, Tucker, David, Sara, Samuel, and Gemina; and great-grandchildren, Zachary, Morgan, and Grayson.
Family and friends will gather from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2014 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, with a time of sharing of stories of Lois and Ben at 4 p.m. Memorials are preferred to the donor's hospice of choice or to Red Wing Faith in Action.
