Lois Kathryn Larson

August 16, 1927 — March 8, 2015

Heaven has been given a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
Lois Kathryn Larson passed away peacefully Sunday March 8th in Harmony Minn. She was born August 16, 1927 to Anthony and Esther Johnson in Lanesboro, Minn. After receiving a two year teaching degree from Winona Teachers College she taught school in Harmony, MN. On October 11, 1947 she married the love of her life Norman Larson at Elstad Lutheran Church in Highland, Minn. They moved to Winona, Minn. where she started working for Thern Manufacturing for many years. While working there she went back to Winona State College to receive her four year degree. After receiving her degree she taught elementary school at Cathedral and St. Stans in Winona until her retirement. She and Norman moved to Las Vegas to spend their retirement years together. While there they enjoyed spending time with four of their grandchildren and traveling. She was very proud of visiting every state but one. The family is sure that God will let her take a visit to Delaware, the one state she missed out on. In 2011 she moved back to Preston, Minn. after the untimely death of Norman. She was a devoted Viking fan dressing up in her Viking purple outfit for every game. She also was a member of the nationwide Lois Club. She was the founder of the club in Winona and also chartered the Lois Club in Las Vegas where she kept very active.
Lois is survived by three children; Larry (Linda) Larson of Red Wing, Minn., Cheryl Erickson of Poulsbo, Wash. and Jeffrey (Gail) Larson of Las Vegas, Nev.; eight grandchildren LaTasha (Dan) Slinden, Jonathan, Kristopher, and Lindsey Erickson, Dane Larson, Krystina Potts, Puckett Potts, and Kaila (Aidan) Smith and two great grandchildren Leinna Murrieta and Maya Smith; sisters Julia Borgen of Lanesboro, Minn., Martha Quanrud of Preston, Minn., and brother Allen Johnson of Rodgers, Ark. and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Norman; parents Anthony and Esther Johnson; sister, Esther Ann Schlee; brother, David Johnson; brothers-in-law, Ernie Borgen and Clarence Quanrud; and sister-in-law, Diane Johnson.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday March 21 at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston, MN with Reverend Dave Jore officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will be at Fort Snelling with her loving husband. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Heartland Hospice Care in Rochester, MN, Christ Lutheran Church in Preston, MN or donor's choice.
