Lois Kathryn Johnson, 95, of Red Wing, died Sunday, December 25, 2011 at her home at Deer Crest. She was born on August 2, 1916 in Red Wing to Helmer and Etta (Johnson) Dahlgren. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1934. On September 21, 1939, in Red Wing, she married Donald Johnson. They lived in Red Wing and then moved to San Francisco, CA while Donald was in the service. They returned to Minnesota, for a short time lived in St. Paul, and then returned to Red Wing. Donald died on December 13, 2000. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54 Auxiliary, Burnson-Lillyblad VFW Post # 1218 Auxiliary, and the Mississippi Golf Links. Lois enjoyed baking, sewing and cross-stitch, card and word games, golf, watching sports, ringing bells, and reading.
Survivors include three children, Gary (Yunsheng) of Ashland, Mo., David (Janet) of Princeton, NJ; and Terry (Kelly) Rusch of Red Wing; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Muriel Dahlgren, Connie Fieldhausen, Jean Volland, and Doris Hutchson.
Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, December 29, at Deer Crest Community Room followed by a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Michael Dobbins officiating. Private burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery.
