Lois Mary Jansen (Northfield), 93, passed away on December 28, 2022 in Lake City, MN. Her last days were filled with hymns and scripture readings with family. She was born on June 5, 1929 in Minneapolis, MN. Lois grew up in Northeast Minneapolis, graduating from Edison High School.
She married Donald B. Johnson on December 6, 1951, and they had five children. The Johnson family enjoyed camping, fishing, nature, card games, music and mom’s great cooking. When Lois was not busy taking care of her family, she enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening, reading poetry and playing piano. She lived life to the fullest, bringing joy and laughter with her wherever she went. Picking wild berries was a much-loved family tradition, and her homemade jams were a family favorite. Her talents and interests spanned many areas, working as a waitress (White Castle, Embers and others), cook, baker, bookkeeper and was a very early computer operator in the mid-1970’s at Bergquist Imports in Cloquet, MN.
On June 30, 1979 Lois married Roger E. Abrahamson of Cloquet. On July 2, 1997 she married Jerome August Jansen and they enjoyed their retirement years in Onamia, MN. They loved to go dancing and were active in the community. She played piano at several churches, made hats and quilts for mission projects, and graciously served at the local food shelf in Onamia. Her pride and joy was serving others, including the nursing home in Onamia where she worked into her seventies before retiring.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents Arthur Gideon and Mary Hazel (Sabin) Northfield, brothers Gilbert, Herbert, Clifford, Raymond, Wayne, sisters Esther (Ducklow), Jean (Johnson) and husband Jerome.
