Lloyd G. Schumacher age 86 of Zumbrota died early Wednesday morning, October 24, 2007 at his home. Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, October 28, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Reverend Wayne Schoch officiating. Burial will be in Zumbrota Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, October 27, 2007 from 4:00 ? 7:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home ? Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Sunday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Lloyd Gordon Schumacher was born on October 14, 1921 in Chester Township, Wabasha County, MN to Henry and Annie (nee Lemmerman) Schumacher. He grew up in rural Mazeppa and attended country school. Lloyd worked as a farmhand for several farmers and on June 17, 1949 he married Marilyn M. Buck in Zumbrota. They made their home on a farm in Zumbrota Township. While farming he also started working road construction for Walt Dierke. In 1956 Lloyd started Schumacher Construction. Lloyd sold the business to Allen and Carol Schumacher in 1986. He continued to help out driving truck and doing parts runs for the company. Lloyd was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Marilyn, one son, Allan (Carol) Schumacher of Zumbrota, three grandsons, Todd (Angela) Schumacher of Zumbrota, Wes Schumacher of Mankato and Scott Schumacher of Zumbrota, two great grandchildren, Aidan Schumacher and Paige Rae Schumacher, two sisters, Norma (Victor) Blastervold of Zumbrota and Beulah Ahrens of Lake City. Lloyd was preceded in death by three sisters, Mildred Lohman, Hazel Burfeind and Leona Weber and four brothers, Henry, Alfred, Walt and Leverne Schumacher. Casketbearers are Todd, Wes, Scott and Dennis Schumacher, Keith Burfeind and James Miller. Honorary bearers are Employee's of Schumacher Excavating Company.
