Linden Giar

Linden Earl Giar, age 63, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, August 19, at his home. He was born on March 5, 1945, in Lodi, Ohio, to Leo and Geniva (Patton) Giar. He grew up in Spencer, Ohio, and attended schools in Ohio and Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1983, receiving the Bronze Star and the Army Commendation Medal. He married Elaine Kenitz on July 22, 1965, in Durand, Wisconsin. They lived in various places while he was in the military service. After his military discharge, they moved back to Red Wing where he owned and operated Lin's Auto Repair since 1986. He enjoyed military life, old history, traveling and playing with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Ricki (Jeremy) Wallin of Stockholm, Wisconsin, Samantha (Corey) Novek of Maiden Rock, Wisconsin, Courtney (Bob) Horne of Red Wing, and Tylor (Terry) Molgard of Red Wing; ten grandchildren; one sister Patricia Stokes of Ruggles, Ohio; nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; two half-brothers, Hubert and Billy Mitchell; brother James Giar and sisters, Sharon Yeager and Judy Yeaples.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, with Reverend Eugene Hasselquist officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of services Friday at the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Kenitz, Jeremy Wallin, Corey Novek, Bob Horne and Terry Molgard. Memorials are preferred to Red Wing Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
