Linda Louise (Scott) Sawyer

April 12, 1956 — August 7, 2021

Minneapolis

Linda Louise Sawyer was born April 12,1956 at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois to J.W. and Mary Louise Scott. She accepted Christ at an early age at the New Morning Star Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois under the leadership of Reverend David B. Bishop. When Linda moved to Minneapolis, she became a longtime member of the Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Arthur Agnew. She was also a member of the Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Billy G. Russell and the Open Door Evangelistic World Ministries under the leadership of Bishop Keith T. Jenkins.

Linda graduated from Farragut High School and later went on to receive her certification as a foster parent. She married Wilbur Ray Sawyer on September 24, 2004 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Linda was a generous and kind mother figure. While she didn’t have biological children, she was very giving and deeply loved all her nieces, nephews and all her brothers and sisters. Linda was also very giving and kind to every person she met, especially those in need.

Linda donated time, money and love to her churches and other charitable organizations. Linda was preceded in death by her mother Mary Louise Scott, Father J.W. Scott, nephew Lazerrick Shumpert and niece Danielle Scott.

Linda left to mourn and cherish her memory, her husband Wilbur R. Sawyer. Four brothers: Robert E. Scott, Orestes “Mickey” Carmicle (Renee), James W. Scott (Sheryl) & David E. Scott. Three sisters: Diane Scott McDonald (Tyrone), Ann Scott, Cherry Scott Ward (Vecente). And a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends that she loved and cherished as her own.

Her presence will be greatly missed by many.
