Linda L. Ahlers

Linda Lee Ahlers, 71, of Lake City, died Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester. She was born on March 15, 1947, in Lake City to Donald and Myrle (Walters) Watson. She graduated from Lake City High School and then attended Winona State University, graduating with a degree in elementary education. On May 20, 1974, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Ahlers. Linda taught school in Goodhue and then at Bluffview in Lake City until her retirement. She was well loved by her students and faculty. She always strived to be the best teacher and person she could be. While in high school Linda was an AFS exchange student in Germany. She remained close to her host family until her passing. She was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She loved the outdoors and nature, watching wildlife, gardening, riding motorcycling and her pets, Fritz and Cuddles. Linda was active in the retired teachers group in Southeastern Minnesota and volunteered for the Relay for Life in Lake City for many years prior to her cancer diagnoses. She also had a passion for Native Americans and their culture.
Linda is survived by one brother, Larry (Audrey) Watson; one nephew, Billy Watson; a close friend and companion, Charlie Holter and his daughter, Kim and two step-sons, Allard Ahlers and Greg Ahlers. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Kenneth on June 21, 2011.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City with Reverend Nathan Cordes officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, October 26, 2018, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service.
