Funeral services for Lily Anne Inkala will be held Wednesday April 3rd at 2:00 PM at Washburn McReavy Funeral Home's Crystal Lake Chapel, 3816 Penn Ave N, in Minneapolis. The Reverend David Rinden will officiate. Burial at Crystal Lake Cemetery will follow the service. Mrs. Inkala, 98, of Rochester, died Friday March 29, 2013 at Maple Manor Nursing Home in Rochester, where she had resided for most of the past year.
Lily Anne Hone was born January 2, 1915 in Crystal Springs, Saskatchewan to Fannie and Cecil Hone. She was a graduate of Hamline University in St. Paul. She taught music and English for a number of years in public schools throughout the upper Midwest. She loved to sing and direct choirs. On September 18, 1948, in Eden Prairie, she married Earl W. Inkala. After raising a family, she worked for Billy Graham Ministries. In later years she became an artist. An avid painter, she worked in oils. Lily and her husband attended Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Rochester.
She is survived by her husband, Earl Inkala of Rochester; three daughters, Judith (Robert) Stamm of Minnetonka, Lisa Brien of Rochester, and Gail (William) O'Neil of Edinburg, Texas; a son, Ronald (Kathleen) Inkala of Minneapolis; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marguerite Orn of Blaine. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ivan and Ernest Hone; a sister, Dora Sooger; and a grandson.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home in Minneapolis on Wednesday. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. Online tributes are being welcomed and may be created at this website.
