Lilly Violet Diercks, age 83, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, January 9, 2008, at Fairview Seminary Home, where she had been a resident since April, 2006. She was born on August 26, 1924, in Bowdle, South Dakota, to Emanuel and Elizabeth (Miller) Miller. At age 11, she moved with her family to Red Wing, where she attended schools. She married William Diercks on June 15, 1945, in Red Wing. They lived in Red Wing and also had a summer place on the Apple River in Wisconsin. He died February 28, 2006. She worked for Red Wing Shoe Company for thirty-four years retiring in 1986. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, a member of a bowling league for thirty years, and enjoyed fishing, crocheting and playing cards.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; and four brothers, Reinhold, Julius, Alvin and Edgar Miller.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Reverend Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Spring burial will be in Belvidere Union Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dennis, James, Leonard, Duane and LeRoy Miller, Daniel Ahern, Douglas Dankers, Bernie Keller and Gary Rogness. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, and one hour prior to the time of services Saturday at the church. Memorials are preferred to the church or the cemetery.
