Lillian Jean Ryan, 86, of Goodhue, died Friday at the Zumbrota Nursing Home from brain cancer. She was born on August 10, 1920, in Red Wing to Charles and Hattie Black. She graduated from Central High School in Red Wing and then attended teachers training in Red Wing and also classes at Winona State University. She taught school at Prairie Island, Welch, Vasa and Vermillion. On June 19, 1941 she married Roy Ryan in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. They owned and operated the Cannon River Inn for eight years and Roy?s Caf‚ for three years, both in Welch. She then worked several years for First State Bank in Red Wing. For the past two months she has been a resident of the Zumbrota Nursing Home. She was member Cross of Christ Lutheran Church and the Goodhue Lioness Club. She enjoyed music, gardening and baking. Survivors include her husband, Roy, at the Zumbrota Nursing Home; two children, Darrell (Laura) Ryan of Shoreview and Carol (Lewie) Brostrom of Coon Rapids; one grandson, Chad (Cassie) Hewitt and two granddaughters, Kelsey and Amanda Ryan; one great grandson, Isaiah Hewitt and one sister, Marion Harth of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Donald and one sister, Letha Olson. Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church with Rev. Bob Albing officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Goodhue Lioness Club. Funeral arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
