Lillian McGrand

A memorial visitation for Lillian McGrand will be held Saturday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel. Inurnment, following the visitation and reception, will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Stewartville. Mrs. McGrand, 95, of Rochester, died Sunday October 25, 2009 at Saint Mary's Hospital in Rochester.

Lillian Born was born June 6, 1914 in Racine Township, Mower County, the daughter of William and Augusta Born. She was raised on a farm which later became the Rochester Airport. On February 4, 1935 she married Clifford McGrand in Cresco, Iowa. The McGrands lived on a farm southeast of Stewartville until Clifford passed away in 1963. Moving to Stewartville, Lillian worked as the office manager for F.W. Woolworth in Rochester, from which she retired in 1979. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, quilting, reading, birdwatching, the casino, playing solitaire, and spending time with her family. She was also a fan of rodeos.

She is survived by two sons, Luvern McGrand of Calimesa, California, and Phillip (Jackie) McGrand of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota; two daughters, Mary (Roger) Schibursky of Preston, and Jeanie Born (Michael Sindt) of Rochester; nine grandchildren, Jeff, Jill, Scott, Brad, Shawne, Hallie, Justin, Lance, and Dustin; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and step-grandchildren. A sister, Verna Ballard of Roseville, California also survives.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Nancy Kay McGrand; a granddaughter, Rochelle Lynn McGrand; five brothers, Elmer, Edwin, Arnold, Reuben, and Kenneth Born; and two sisters, Cora Nash, and Evelyn Boland.
