Lillian B. Emery, 92, of Red Wing, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, January 3, 2011, at the Fairview Seminary Home. She was born on February 18, 1918, in Hillsboro, North Dakota, the daughter of Martin and Mabel (Dammen) Flaskerud. She grew up in the Pequot Lakes area and graduated from Washington High School, Brainerd, in 1936. She married Wilbur Emery on July 3, 1945, after waiting for three years while he was serving his country in the United States Army. The couple lived in Mankato, St. Louis Park, and Burnsville before moving to Red Wing in 1984. She was a custodian for the Burnsville School District for ten years until retiring in 1984. Lillian enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Wilbur George Emery; sons, Clifford (Kathy) Emery of Red Wing, and William Emery of Colorado Springs, Colorado; nine grandchildren, Kristin (Pat) Lynner, Danielle (Joe) Rice, Lisa (Lyle) Gill, Chad (Ivy) Emery, Trent (Michelle) Johnson, Brook (Brendan) O'Rourke, Tait (Sarah) Johnson, David Emery, and Christina Emery; and 13 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Maria Johnson; and brother, Ole Flaskerud.
Memorial Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 7, 2011, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Reverend Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011, at Mahn Family Funeral Home-Bodelson Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church.
