Lester J. Wells, 81, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born August 25, 1928 in Enid, Oklahoma to Joseph and Clara (Goll) Wells. He graduated from high school in Enid and married Louise Skaggs on April 18, 1948. He worked for the Milwaukee Road, Soo Line and Amtrak Railroads for 31 years. His career located him throughout different stations in St. Paul, Wabasha, Winona and Red Wing. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, sports and reading. He was a member of the Rochester Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Wells of Red Wing; daughter, Suzette Wells of Woodbury; mother-in-law, Clorene Skaggs of Red Wing; sister-in-law, Alice Wells of Enid, Oklahoma and a niece and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Roy Wells and a sister, Wilna Webb.
A private family service was held and burial was at Burnside Cemetery. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
