Leslie Revland, Wanamingo, age 83, died on August 12, 2010 at the Kenyon Sunset Home in Kenyon, Minnesota after struggling with Parkinson's disease for the past 10 years. The memorial service will be Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Stordahl Lutheran Church, Zumbrota. Pastor Kathy Lowery will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 18, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Mahn Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota. Internment will be in the Stordahl Lutheran Church cemetery.
Les was born January 21, 1927, the only son of Olga Hostager Revland and Leslie Revland. He attended rural school in Hader for eight years, then spent one year at Zumbrota High School before moving to Wanamingo and completing high school in 1945.
Les joined the Navy in 1945 just prior to his high school graduation. He served in the Seabees and was stationed in China building airstrips at the end of World War II. He returned to Wanamingo in the summer of 1946 where he completed an apprenticeship with Quamme Garage and worked for Vernie Fossan at Fossan Hardware. Throughout the years he worked with several other local businesses. In 1970 he started Revland Wheel Alignment and in 1980 his son Mark joined the business. Les retired in 2002.
Les is survived by his wife Ardelle; daughter Renita and Dan Schmidt of Taylors, South Carolina; daughter Arlys and Richard Clinton of Fair Oaks, California; daughter Lori and Steve Foss of Kenyon, Minnesota; and son Mark and Ruth Revland of Wanamingo. He is also survived by his grandchildren - Todd, Megan, and Allison Schmidt; Richard Clinton; Andrew, Paul, and Lyndsey Foss; Justin, Jason, Joshua, and Jesse Revland - and great grandchildren Wyatt and Trent Foss, and Makayla, Kiarra, and Dominick Revland.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials to be sent to Mayo Clinic Parkinson's Research or Stordahl Lutheran Church.
