Leslie A. Flaaen

Leslie A. Flaaen, age 64 of Red Wing died Saturday, September 17, 2016 at United Hospital in St. Paul. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 26, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Lands Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Pastor David Krinke officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Leslie Allen Flaaen was born on January 23, 1952 in Red Wing, MN to Phillip and Virginia (nee Berg) Flaaen. As a young boy he started school in Wanamingo. His family moved to Mazeppa and later to Rochester, where he graduated from Mayo High School in 1970. Les started working for Musicland in Rochester. After several years he started working at the Red Wing Shoe Company and worked there for almost forty years. Les enjoyed music, playing guitar, drawing and sketching, boating, downhill skiing, kayaking, and wearing his signature red shirts.
Les is survived by his father, Phillip (Marleen) Flaaen of Wanamingo; sister, Cindy (Bruce) Thompson of Minneapolis, aunts, Berniece (Norman) Grimm and Ramona Nelson, both of Rochester.
Les was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia and brothers, Jim and Mychal.
Memorials are preferred to Lands Lutheran Church.
Arrangements are with the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota.
