LeRoy L. Nordeng age 70 of Zumbrota died on Sunday, March 23, 2008 at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, March 28, 2008 at 11:00 AM at United Redeemer Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Reverend Tom Isaacson officiating. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Friday from 10:30 � 11:00 AM at the church.
LeRoy L. Nordeng was born on March 20, 1938 in Bagley, MN to James and Eunice (nee Rossell) Nordeng. He went to school in Halstad and Shelly, MN. On November 15, 1956 he entered the U.S. Army. LeRoy was honorably discharged on November 2, 1959 and he moved to Minneapolis and started his career as a skilled machinist, tool maker and later a lab procurement engineer. On August 25, 1962 he married Beverly E. Olson in Fertile, MN. LeRoy worked at IBM in Rochester from 1966 until 1992. Prior to, during and after his employment at IBM, he earned U.S. patents for multiple and unrelated products. LeRoy also started and later sold his interests in four businesses. LeRoy is survived by his wife, Beverly, one son, Rod (Mary) Nordeng of Rose Creek, one granddaughter, Brenna Nordeng and one grandson, Pierce Nordeng, both of Rose Creek, his mother, Eunice Nordeng of Halstad, two sisters, Janet Brown of Sauk City, WI and Joyce McSparron of Minnetonka, and eight nieces and nephews. Leroy was preceded in death by his father, James, brother, Gregory and grandparents. LeRoy possessed a very creative mind, a willingness to work hard and he thoroughly enjoyed sharing ideas with others. Arrangements are with the Mahn Family Funeral Home � Larson Chapel in Zumbrota.
